Founded in 2016, Houston Improvement Project (HIP) revives and restores nonprofit-owned community spaces, classrooms, performance spaces, gardens and more – places that allow kids, adults and seniors to thrive, grow and learn. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that is 100% volunteer run.

About Our Founder

HIP was founded by Houston native Kate Dearing Fowler. She grew up in the Copperfield area, went to Langham Creek High School (go Lobos!), and graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans with B.A.s in Communications and Spanish. She's now married to Stephen, an all around cool dude who also serves on HIP's board. They live in the Heights with their cat Jonas and goldendoodles, Lucy and Susan.
